How to Create a Tropical Island Themed Room
Are you reminiscing your last month's vacation when you were in Thailand basking in the tropical sun? Do you wish to have the same experience every day right in your own home? Well, you can do this by redecorating your bedroom to have a tropical island theme. Begin by painting the walls of your room with a colour or two that is associated with the beach. Examples of good colours to choose from are white, soft blue, beige, or turquoise. Any of these colours gives the place a breezy, relaxing feeling. You can also hire a professional to paint your wall with a mural depicting the ocean. If you do not like the idea of painting your walls, you can buy pieces of burlap fabric and apply it in the same fashion as wallpaper. Alternatively, purchase some wallpaper that has a burlap design.
Place tropical plants, either live or artificial, in your room. A great idea is to place a fake palm tree inside your sleeping quarters. Surround the tree's trunk and crown with Christmas lights. This will give your room a fun and festive mood. In addition, you can add a vase or two filled with tropical plants or miniature bamboo. Tropical settings also involve splashes of colour. Thus, use bedding fabrics that come in shades of tangerine, purple, lemon yellows and pinks similar to the colours of tropical flowers. For your furniture, use pieces that are made out of wood, bamboo, or rattan. For a final accent, put a plate on the night table and sprinkle some sand on it. Scatter some flower petals and add a nice seashell. With these decorations, the last thing you need to do is to lie down and drink a refreshing piña colada.
