Why a DSLR Camera is a Travel Essential

Travelling to a faraway place like Koh Lipe in Thailand is something that most people do not get the chance to do as often as they want to. So, they take as many pictures as possible at every opportunity they get to have something to remind them of their once-in-a-lifetime adventure. However, there is no better camera to take along on a holiday than a DSLR or Digital Single-Lens Reflex camera.

One of the reasons why a DSLR is the perfect travel buddy is because it is fast. This means that you can capture special, fleeting moments through such camera. Unlike a compact digital unit, the DSLR focuses on the subject and takes a snapshot of it, when you want to, where you want to. This is because a DSLR has mechanical shutters, a device that sits in front of the camera's sensor, which blocks it from light. Since it is mechanical, the shutter opens instantaneously when you press the button, which is not the case for a compact camera. Hence, there is no delay when you want to take a picture of anything you find interesting, which includes things that are moving.

Aside from that, a DSLR camera uses different types of lens for taking various kinds of shots. It can use a wide-angle lens, macro lens, telephoto lens, and the like. Another advantage is that such lens can be zoomed in and out in the speed you want, allowing you to take pictures at the right distance and at the right time. This means that you have full control over a DSLR and you do not have to rely or put up with the limited features of a compact camera.
